While walking through the museum, there were many things that caught my eye. What really got my attention were the amulets.

The amulets were believed to have special powers and were used for a variety of occasions. Rock crystal amulets were thought to cure diseased cattle. Other types of amulets were buried with the dead.

Bulla, an amulet worn like a pendent, were made in the Bronze Age between 1150 BC – 750 BC.

Amulets were used primarily in burial ceremonies of a child. The amulet was created with the child in mind and the whole community made some contribution. The parents would bury the child with the amulet and other objects such as rosary beads.

In most cases, crystal amulets were worn because people believed they possessed the power to protect them.
